Okay, I managed to stop playing “Dragon Quest XI” long enough to write this post.
Have I mentioned already that the Nintendo Switch is absolutely awesome? Because, frankly, it is! I picked one up a few weeks ago… yes, I know, I’m a bit late to the party… and have played it pretty much every day since! Which is saying quite a bit, considering I am not a “Console Guy” in any way, shape, or form. In the past I’ve owned a few different systems (Atari 2600, Intellivision, Playstation, and Playstation 2, plus I borrowed my cousin’s Nintendo Entertainment System a few times), but generally I’ve always been a PC Gamer. From my old Commodore VIC-20 to my current, badass MSI Gaming Laptop, I’ve been a PC gamer through and through.
But the Switch is something different. While I play it mostly in Docked mode with a Pro Controller, I have the ability to take it wherever I want, and play in handheld mode in I need to. Yes, I even bought “Luggage” for it, a case that will hold the Switch and all of its various parts and accouterments, plus a couple of dozen game cards, just for this purpose.
I bought my Switch to play at the hospital after my surgery, after all… even if I am not up to it, at least I have the option to play something, should I want to.
Anyway, I figured I would be spending most of my time on the Switch with “Pokemon Sword” and “Breath of the Wild”, because I’m all about games like those. But then I picked up “Dragon Quest XI”, and, well… I’ll get to those other games eventually. DQXI reminded me of why I loved this series so much back in the old NES days with “Dragon Warrior” and its sequels.
It’s just that good.
Anyway, I have to restrict myself now from buying new games, otherwise I’ll buy all of them. Seriously… ALL. OF. THEM. Especially the digital downloads. I keep buying games I already have on Steam, because why load them up on my laptop, when I can just lean back in my recliner and play “Torchlight II” or “Graveyard Keeper” through the Switch right on my TV?
I guess you could say I’m a bit of a fan of the Switch.
Regardless, I should close for now, since I have a hell of a lot of games to play before “Animal Crossing” comes out, and consumes my life for the next year or so!
