GTA 6 is delayed, and I’m just fine

TL;DR: “Grand Theft Auto VI” got delayed, and it’s another weekday ending in a “y”. *Yawn*

Look, I get it. The “Grand Theft Auto” series of video games are really damn popular, and it has been a really long time since there has been a new game in the series. It is frankly natural for fans of the series to feel that way… except for one thing.

“Grand Theft Auto Online”.

The online multiplayer version of “Grand Theft Auto V” has been out for many years, and has become the most profitable entertainment product in history. No musical album, no film, no other video game, nothing has made more money than GTA Online, period.

So… Haven’t we already had GTA VI for years, through GTA Online?

Yes, yes, I know. GTA Online is literally based upon GTA V. Same setting, same characters… but absolutely not the same game by any means. While they have revamped and upgraded “Grand Theft Auto V” multiple times over the years, making it compatible with systems as far back as the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, they have done the same and more with GTA Online. If anything, GTA Online has morphed over time into something very different than the game it began as, and that is frankly a great thing. Making GTA into a multiplayer online service set a model for many other games, but none have ever been as successful.

On an aside, Bethesda, you really need to make an online multiplayer version of “Starfield”. Just don’t mess it up like you did with “Fallout 76”, okay?

Now I’m not saying that we shouldn’t get “Grand Theft Auto VI”, not at all. What I’m saying is, frankly, who cares if it got delayed again. This isn’t news, it should be expected by now. Also, it isn’t like GTA Online isn’t still there, fully playable and just as fun as it always has been. Will another six months actually kill us?

No. No it won’t. Grow up, whiners.
