So since I’m playing more on my laptop anymore, and especially playing more MMORPGs that maybe aren’t as controller-friendly as my Console Peasant heart might like, I’m looking to get some goodies to work with. Specifically, I’m looking at a couple of products from Razer that seem interesting.
Why Razer? Because I’ve used one of their MMO mice in the past, and really liked it overall. Also, they have a really cool programmable keypad that is just what the Doctor ordered, according to all of the reviews I’ve seen online.
These would be the Razer Basilisk mouse, and the Razer Tartarus v2 keypad.
Now do I really need both of these bits of kit? No. I can keep leaning over awkwardly to use the keyboard on my laptop, and my basic wireless mouse is certainly serviceable. But with these two items, I will be able to lean back and control not only my games on the laptop, but also program in commands to control my video recording software, which will make recording my many videos all the easier, too.
The problem is, they are a bit pricey, at least compared to knockoffs you can find on Amazon. But I replaced my old Razer mouse with a Redragon programmable mouse, and it broke in just over a year. I would much rather invest in gear that I can likely count on for a few years to come, than save a few bucks now and find myself replacing the gear in a few months.
That all said, price is certainly an issue, especially for the Tartarus v2. Investing $80 into a keypad is a big stretch for my pocketbook, so this may have to wait until later in the year (birthday, Christmas, whatever). But I’ve made My Lovely Bride™ aware of my interest in these items, and we’ll see how it goes.
But by Howdy, making my videos and playing my PC games would be a whole lot easier with this particular kit!
