Now here is an interesting choice for some Halloween season fun: “Sleepy Hollow“.

This game is based upon the iconic Autumnal folk-horror poem of the same name, by Washington Irving. Set in early-colonial New England, the game is both historical period drama and folk horror, and a completely unique roleplaying experience.

It employs the “Year Zero” game engine, which is… a choice, I guess. I wouldn’t have thought this a good fit for that particular game engine, but hey, it’s popular, and it just works, so there’s that. In my experience, Y0 games are better for extended campaigns than holiday one-shots, so this might not be a game you’d bring to the table for that purpose. But if you’re looking for something spooky to play for a while, give “Sleepy Hollow” a try.
