So I’ve been thinking about the livestream, and what I’d like to do with it in the future. I enjoy doing the three-session format each weekend, as it allows me time to relax and actually play some games without livestreaming, which is nice. But at the same time, I find myself stretching those three sessions into five sessions, which is also fine, except I end up sitting for nearly three hours at a time, for each of those five sessions, and that isn’t good for my health.
Basically, I need to tweak things a bit, but how?
Well, I think I have a plan that might just work. It would involve streaming for the same basic three sessions each weekend, but I would go back to taking more breaks in each session, so I could walk around and keep clots from forming in my legs.
So essentially, I would stream for an hour-ish (45-60 minutes), take a short break, then stream for another hour-ish, short break, and so on. This would allow me to watch after my health more, while still streaming for effectively three to six hours at a time, depending upon the session.
Another benefit of this plan would be that I could produce the five “Lord of the Rings Online” streams I do every weekend (to post the replays of here the following week), while also giving me time to livestream other games. For example: I plan to play a few hours of “Anarchy Online” this morning, then knock out five hour-ish streams of LOTRO later tonight, and five hour-ish streams of… something else… on Sunday night. So we’d have plenty of replays for the website each week, including the five shows I like to do on LOTRO, and a whole lot more. All in less time than I was streaming before.
Yet another benefit comes later on, when it comes to replays. No one wants to sit and watch a three hour long livestream replay, if my stats are any indication. Odds are, they won’t watch “hour-ish” long replays, either… But they are a lot more likely to watch shorter stream replays than something that would take up most of an afternoon.
Anyway, so that’s what I’m going to try, starting today. I’ll knock out a few “Anarchy Online” sessions this morning (or “Rift”, if I can’t get AO to cooperate), some LOTRO tonight, and yet another game Sunday night. Which I already said, but you get the point. If it works, great. If it doesn’t, then no harm, no foul.
