If you’ve been watching my YouTube content (on my channel or here in the Gallery), you will have no doubt seen me playing a little early-access bullet heaven called “Yet Another Zombie Survivors”. I truly enjoy this game, so much so that I bought it for first the Xbox, and also for my PC through Steam. There was one problem with the game, though, that has nagged at me for quite some time:

Will it ever leave Early-Access? It has been sitting unfinished for years!

Well, I got my answer the other morning, when I turned on the ol’ Series X to play on my console. YAZS had been updated to version 1.0, and was now a full release game.

Finally!

Now here’s the question: Was the wait worth it?

That’s a matter for each of us to answer on our own, but I am enjoying the new content all over the game. A new character (Ranger), and new map to explore (The Lab), and other new content (such as Missions). I also noticed that the level cap of 187 has been increased or removed entirely, which was becoming a problem for me on Xbox, where I had a good portion of my characters at cap.

What I’m seeing thus far has been entertaining, though. There is new depth to the game, and while you can play as you always have before, you have new options to explore and enjoy. So those of us who have been sitting and waiting… and waiting… and waiting… have a whole lot more to do and enjoy in the game!

So I guess what I’m saying is this: When YAZS was still in early-access, I gave it my whole-hearted recommendation. This was absolutely a game worth buying, even in an incomplete state. But now, I think anyone who loves Bullet Heaven style games like “Brotato” will adore YAZS. It is well worth the money, and currently available on Steam, GOG, Xbox, Playstation, and coming soon* for Nintendo Switch (apparently)!

(*) Based on how long the game was in Early Access, you should have a rather flexible and forgiving opinion of what they mean by “soon”.
