So It’s October again, and that means Halloween! So let’s talk about some great games that have a horror vibe, and frankly, there’s not much better than the highly acclaimed sci-fi/horror hit “Alien: Isolation“.
This game is a first-person shooter, normally a genre I don’t really play, but in this case… it just works. The sense of impending horror is absolutely heightened by the restrictive views you can get from the first-person perspective, and makes it feel more like an interactive movie than a survival horror game.
Now, there is one problem with this game, that I really must address: Its age. “Alien: Isolation” first came out in 2014, so it is very long in the tooth. The graphics won’t be up to modern standards, and that might detract from the overall experience for a gamer in 2026. That said, this game is absolutely everywhere, ported to all current consoles, including Android phones and the Nintendo Switch. Personally, I’d prefer the version on Xbox Series X (which can support 60 frame per second), over the Playstation 5, which has to play the PS4 version of the game, and is locked at 30 FPS.
But hey, that’s just me. You could also play it on a halfway decent PC and get more than 30 FPS, too. Just saying.
Anyway, “Alien: Isolation” – despite its age and potentially limited graphical experience – is one hell of a scary ride, and in my opinion is well worth playing, if you’re looking for some spooky fun.
