Tomorrow, June 27th, 2026, is Free RPG Day 2026 (unless you’re in the UK, where it has been delayed to a future date due to shipping issues). Most brick-and-mortar game stores will be taking part in this event, but check the website to find a local store that is participating in the festivities.
Now, with all those caveats aside, what exactly is going on for Free RPG Day 2026? Well, it looks like a whole lot of Quick starts and One-shot adventures are being given out, for a variety of different games! The list of publishers participating in this year’s event is… extensive, to say the least… so you are likely to find something that will tickle your fancy. Again, check the website to see in advance what you might find available for your favorite games.
Now then, if you’d like some advice: Go early. There will often be a line for these events, especially at popular locations, and demand will be high for items being given out for the most popular games. Also, don’t get your heart set on a particular item, because there are only limited quantities available (as I said before), and those who arrive early often snag all of the best swag, if they can. Be willing to just take what is offered or available, because frankly, you’ll probably find something you’ll enjoy, and it could maybe even introduce you to a new game or two!
Regardless, head out to your friendly local game store, whether or not they are participating in this event. You’re sure to find something wonderful, while supporting a local business, rather than throwing more money into Amazon’s pockets!
