So I’m rather late to this story, but since we’re closing in on the Anniversary Update for “Avowed”, I wanted to comment on it. Why? Because I enjoy the game, and looking at what’s on the table for this coming update (currently scheduled for February 17th), I really can’t wait to dig into this new content!
First of all, the game will be coming to Playstation 5 at the same time as this release. Don’t care, as I don’t have a Playstation 5, nor do I plan to buy one. But what am I actually looking forward to?
- New Game Plus (NG+). Being able to play the game again with your current character, enjoy the game with different choices, while enjoying a more difficult gameplay, just sounds lovely. NG+ is one of the best things about “Starfield”, so I expect it to be the same here.
- Having a new weapon type added just gives us so many new combinations for ways to play.
- New playable races. I’m sorry, but anything that adds more options to the game is a good thing, and just adds more replayability.
- Photo mode sounds like fun. Now normally I wouldn’t care too much about this, but “Avowed” is an absolutely gorgeous game, and being able to easily take crafted pictures in-game will be very enjoyable!
The only problem I have here is that there is still over a week until this update goes Live, and now I don’t want to play until it launches. I want to basically start a fresh character and just dig into the updated content after it comes out, so playing now just feels like a waste of time. Which is to say, it leaves me another couple of weeks to play “Starfield” before I go all-in on “Avowed”, at least until/if “Starfield” ever drops new content (a major update or DLC, not just some mods).
No, I’m not bitter Bethesda, not at all.
Regardless, I’m very much looking forward to this Anniversary Update. Please, Obsidian… don’t let me down.
