Like a good little puppy

So a few weeks back I was streaming on Twitch, as one does, but it was a Saturday morning and I had no viewers. This is a pretty regular situation, since I’m a very small streamer, and playing a game (“Starfield”) that isn’t exactly burning up the views on the service. Anyway, that’s not the point. A bit into my session, I felt the need to take a bio-break, as one does, so I set off a 30-second ad and stepped away to take care of business.

Later, I happened to check my stats for the stream, because I’m a curious guy, and strangely… I made some money. Not a lot, mind you, but I got paid a bit for an ad view.

Now to be clear, the only ad I set off was that 30 second one during a quick break. There is of course the possibility that Twitch showed someone a quick ad when they jumped into my stream – before quickly jumping out to avoid said ad. Like I said, I didn’t really have any viewers that day. But it is possible that someone caught a snippet of a Twitch ad, but I think it was more likely that Twitch threw me a bone for setting off that 30 second ad.

Like a new puppy, they gave me a treat for performing a trick.

So anyway, none of this really matters because I have maybe three people who come around to see my streaming, maybe once in a while. But I certainly will be setting off more of those 30 second ads from now on, but only when I take a break, which isn’t often. I mean I only stream for three to four hours per day, I might take one quick bio-break somewhere in there, but I usually go before and after the stream, like a responsible adult.

Just saying. I like the occasional pat on the head.
