What folks are overlooking for Xbox Showcase 2025

What folks are overlooking for Xbox Showcase 2025 post thumbnail image

So the annual “Xbox Showcase” is coming this Sunday (June 8th, 2025), and I’ve been seeing a lot of articles trying to guess what surprises Microsoft has in store for us this year. I’ve been hearing rumors about new games and content from “Gears of War” to “Persona”, and everything in-between, but do you know what most websites aren’t talking about?

“Starfield”

Yeah, I get it. “Starfield” has been written off as a failure by most gaming journalists, despite the impressive sales numbers, its continued popularity on Game Pass, and healthy modding community. I guess it is easier to just ignore all of that and go with the popular sentiment that “‘Starfield’ sucks LOL”, rather than actually consider its enduring popularity and growth.

But I digress.

What people are forgetting is that, aside from all of the other reasons Bethesda has to continue support for “Starfield”, you have the pattern Bethesda/Xbox have set previously for “Starfield” support.

  1. Last year they released a major bugfix patch in May, followed by a major content update (Creations and Trackers Alliance content) in June… right about the time of the Xbox Showcase.
  2. We’ve already had another major bugfix patch this May, and going by SteamDB, it looks like we’ll be seeing a big content update in June… just like last year.
  3. Todd Howard famously stated last year that Bethesda would be supporting “Starfield” for 10 years, with content patches, bugfixes, and annual DLC. They trademarked the term “Starborn” last year, and most people think that’s the name of this year’s DLC… which would most likely be announced at Xbox Showcase.
  4. … Especially since they announced the release date for the first DLC, “Shattered Space”, at Xbox Showcase 2024.

I could go on, but I think you get the point.

There is no guarantee that Bethesda will talk about “Starfield” at all at Xbox Showcase, but there is every indication that they will, and that it won’t just be a minor thing. I’m not saying that “Starfield” will be the primary focus of the Showcase, that would be ridiculous, but it is also entirely ridiculous to think that Xbox and Bethesda would simply ignore one of the biggest games on Xbox Game Pass for the last couple of years.

No, “Starfield” will be discussed, there will be announcements regarding the game, and likely a content announcement if not a drop in the following week. And I hope that the ‘Haters’ choke on it.
