Debate of the Century

A question has arisen over the last decade or so, that has finally reached a point where I believe we must finally put an end to it, once and for all. We must finally look at this argument in-depth, give it the proper due diligence it deserves, and put it to rest.

So, with all that said, let’s discuss the greatest debate of our time: “Rules-Lite vs. Crunchy Tabletop Roleplaying Games”.

It’s Rules-Lite that wins, there’s no question here. People who need rules to determine every single aspect of a game just lack creativity and imagination. Rules-Lite games allow the GameMaster to adjudicate issues on the fly, as needed, without having to rely on finding some obscure rule in a book.

It. Just. Works.

Anyway, that’s about it.

Oh, hey… By the way! I’m working on a rules-lite RPG right now, based upon a system I devised a couple of decades ago. Basically just streamlining the old game down a bunch, and seeing where it goes. Yes, this puts my PbtA-based game on Hold for a bit, but I’m feeling really inspired by certain new games like “Eldritch Hack”, so I’m doing this now.

Regardless, I’m still right.
