I can’t do Social Media anymore. I just can’t.
Oh, I still will read Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit, mind you. I need something to do while I’m, shall we say… Indisposed?
But that doesn’t mean I have to like it.
Everywhere I go, there is nothing but aggravating news stories. Anti-maskers, Science Deniers, and Hardcore Trumpers (I call them MAGAts, personally), all throwing out their bile and hate. I simply can’t take it anymore!
Look, I get it. Everyone has a right to speak their peace. But that doesn’t mean I have to listen to them. I also have a right to not have my social media feeds filled to the brim with utter nonsense. I’ve done what I can, with the tools these sites provide, to keep my feeds as clean as possible, but it simply isn’t enough.
So I have to stop reading social media, if only for my own sanity.
Like I said before, I’ll still check out my feeds here or there, mostly while I’m dropping the kids off at the pool, as it were. But (no pun intended) I used to basically live on these sites. If I wasn’t on my computer, I was reading them on my phone. And it has been slowly smothering my will to exist on this planet.
Now then, I’m okay. Really. But this is a form of self-care. It’s like how I wear a mask while I’m in public. That’s mostly to protect everyone else, in case I ever get infected with the COVID, but it is also to help reduce the chance I might get infected by someone else. And stepping away from the constant reading of social media will not only protect MAGAts from my fiery wrath, when they say something incredibly stupid (which is to say, when they post anything at all), but it also help keep me sane and lowers my overall anxiety.
Idiot really raise my blood pressure, and I can’t have that.
Anyway, so you’ll be seeing less of me on social media. I’d like to say this is only temporary, but I think we all know these idiots are only going to get worse, not better anytime soon.
Gawd help us all.
