Change, for the sake of it

And so, do I change things up here again, because I can.

I’ve been playing a heck-ton of “Lord of the Rings Online” over the last couple of months, mostly on the weekend livestreams, and frankly, it’s getting me down a tad. Sure, I’m getting a good measure of viewers and interaction from playing LOTRO, but I’m not having as much fun as I might, by mixing it up a tad.

Now I’ve always considered myself to be a Variety Streamer, and have often played a bunch of different games over the last year-plus I’ve been on Twitch. But over the last few months, I’ve gotten my best reactions while playing LOTRO, so I stuck with that. That said, what is the difference between three viewers and twenty, if you are wearing thin on the game you’re playing? Plus, there are also a few things currently souring me some on showcasing LOTRO all the time, but I’d prefer not to discuss them, at this time.

Don’t get me wrong now, I still enjoy LOTRO, and will continue to play it in my ‘featured’ Saturday evening (9pm to 1am Pacific) livestream spot. But I plan on doing something different with the Saturday morning and Sunday night streams, as you’ll see below:

  • On Saturday mornings (8am to Noon Pacific), I will be playing various Retro games, as I did last weekend. This was a lot of fun, and people seemed to enjoy my sad flailing, so we’ll keep doing that for a while.
  • On Sunday nights (10pm to 2am Pacific), I plan on playing a bunch of different ‘modern’ (which is to say, not-Retro) games. I expect these will mostly be MMORPGs other than LOTRO, but I also plan on breaking out some other games here or there. Basically, I’ll play what sounds interesting to me, rather than push myself to play LOTRO, just because.

This will all start this coming Saturday, which is to say tomorrow.

On a side-note: My sweetie Tenknife and I will be going on vacation later this month. This will not adversely affect the livestream nor the rollout of content for the website, but it will actually cause there to be more content that week! We’re going camping for a few days, mid-week, towards the end of the month, but that means I will likely be able to stream on Friday, and possibly even Thursday that week. No promises, obviously, but I’ll endeavor to do more with that extra time.
